It has been almost 150 years since Horgenglarus was founded in Horgen near Zurich - today it is the oldest chair and table manufacturer in Switzerland. Over the years, the longevity and quality of workmanship of its furniture has attracted many renowned Swiss designers to work with the company, such as Hans Bellmann, Werner Max Moser and Max Ernst Haefeli. The latter designed the book chair, also known as the “Bücherstube” model. The chair was created in 1926, when Haefeli designed the interior of the Girsberger bookshop on Kirchgasse in Zurich. In contrast to other designers, Haefeli did not seek to break with tradition, but created furniture with a familiar appearance. With its slightly lower seat height, the chair on offer is ideal as a reading chair. It is in good vintage condition with a beautiful patina.
