In the 1930s, the Parisian entrepreneur Georg Albert Ulysse Caruelle created a classic: the Caruelle table. Embru bought the Frenchman's patent straight away, as the multifunctional all-rounder could be used in over 100 ways: as a side table, a pedestal, a lectern, a music stand or a game board.
