Unlike most chair designers, architect Hartmut Lohmeyer did not start his furniture designs with a freely formulated product shape, but rather with the constructive possibilities of the material, from which the form ultimately emerged. His focus on simplicity and avoidance of embellishments made his chairs and tables minimalist and disciplined, yet they still had a consciously sensual elegance. In addition to their distinctive design language, the craftsmanship origin set high standards for refined construction details and technical finesse.
