Rico Baltensweiler and Rosmarie Schwarz, who were still unmarried at the time, developed the first lamp for their own use in a workshop in Lucerne in the early 1950s. Many architect friends liked the Type 600 Model 51 so much that the first series of 10 was produced. As the lighting ranges and office area grew, so did the company. In 1959, Baltensweiler was commissioned by the American furniture store Knoll International to produce a nine-part series of lamps with a similar shape. The lamps were designed so that they could be dismantled into two parts and exported with a minimum packaging size. This is No. 467, a characteristically filigree, deep luminaire for Baltensweiler, which can be attached to the top of a table. It can be rotated around its axis so that the position of the lamp can be adjusted for any purpose. This model is in good used condition and works perfectly.
