Herbert Hirche was responsible for designing many successful models for Wilkhahn. They were all characterized by linear, slender, elegant solid wood frames and the clear contours of the upholstery. The 457 chair was part of an upholstered furniture range that was first presented at the World Exposition in Brussels in 1958.
