Today, Kurt Thut is best known for his straightforward furniture design, which makes do with minimal use of materials. However, his architectural works are also characterized by perfect proportions and a reduction to the essentials, such as the detached house in Begnins near Nyon above Lake Geneva. He designed this house for the Amstutz family in 1967; in the book - Kurt Thut - Protagonist of Swiss Residential Culture - it is affectionately referred to as “the house above Lake Geneva”. It is a simple, well thought-out building with an impressive panorama over Lake Geneva. In addition to the architecture, Thut also designed the interior. This includes the simple, round marble table on offer here, which is attributed to Kurt Thut. In combination with the chairs he designed and selected for this combination, a harmonious arrangement is created that looks like a flower-shaped composition when viewed from above. The marble table on offer is in good vintage condition with signs of wear on the table top.
