Catalog essay

The Austrian architect Prof. Roland Rainer accepted an invitation from the Technical University of Hanover in 1953. From there, it was a small step to Wilkhahn, where he began his design work. Due to his profession, his products were less focused on the residential sector and more intended for use in commercial spaces. One of his creations was the upholstered multipurpose chair 702/2, featuring its unmistakably rounded backrest and armrests made from the fine wood rosewood.
