TURN CRAFT is a reinterpretation of Nao Tamura's TURN project, launched in 2019, that reveals original material and color effects. The glossy black version, TURN CRAFT Stainless Black / Nero, is obtained through a steel dyeing process that Ambientec uses for the first time, giving the color fullness. A portion of the stem is wrapped in hand-stitched, fine black Tuscan Liscio leather, adding a touch of character. The brass version, TURN CRAFT Brass / Cotto, has a nostalgic allure that reinterprets the lamp's contemporary lines. The special process treated with very gentle oil finishing, gives the finish varying shades over time, making the lamp a distinctive object with exquisite and unsual aesthetics. The Tuscan Liscio leather coating on a portion of the stem is hand-sewed and complements the natural tones of the lamp perfectly.

The brass version, Turn Craft Brass / Cotto, reimagines the lamp’s contemporary lines with a nostalgic warmth. Treated with a gentle oil-finishing process, the brass surface develops a unique patina over time, transforming the lamp into an evolving object of exquisite character. The hand-stitched Tuscan Liscio leather on the stem harmonizes beautifully with the brass’s natural tones, adding texture and depth to the design.
As its name suggests, Turn Craft embodies masterful craftsmanship, blending precision-machined metals with natural materials in a way that highlights their intrinsic beauty. Unlike the original Turn Brass, which is coated to prevent oxidation, Turn Craft embraces the brass’s organic aging process. Each brass component is stored in a vacuum after processing and finished with oil to preserve its raw, tactile quality. Over time, the brass can be polished to restore its original luster, enhancing its charm and extending its lifespan.
To ensure enduring beauty, Turn Craft offers a bespoke maintenance polish. The Tuscan Liscio leather, crafted using the traditional vaqueta method in Tuscany, Italy, reflects the highest standards of artisanal excellence. “Liscio,” meaning “smooth” in Italian, refers to the luxurious vegetable-tanned leather enriched with animal fats to achieve its signature softness. Japanese artisans meticulously hand-stitch this leather, imbuing the lamp with a deeply personal, handcrafted essence.
Turn Craft Stainless Black features Nero (black) leather, while Turn Craft Brass pairs seamlessly with Cotto (dark brown) leather. Stainless steel, the most robust material in the Turn series, offers exceptional resistance to corrosion. Its bold silver surface is tempered with a sophisticated black dye for a more refined and dignified aesthetic. This finish results from a collaboration with a young company in Tsubame-Sanjo, renowned for its innovative stainless steel dyeing techniques and dedication to craftsmanship.
