British Arts and Crafts

The British Arts and Crafts movement began as a reaction against the perceived dehumanizing effects of the Industrial Revolution. Designers and thinkers such as William Morris and John Ruskin protested against the soullessness of mass production, which they saw as a cause of social inequality and the alienation of our species from the fundamental beauty of materials and the joy that comes from the touch of the artisan's hand.
