Capitolium Art

The Casa D’aste Capitolium was founded in 1988 by Rudiano Rusconi in the prestigious Palazzo Cigola Fenaroli Valotti in Brescia. In 2008, after twenty years and forty auctions selling exclusively ancient art, the company underwent a structural overhaul and changed its name to CapitoliumArt. The auction house opened a Modern and Contemporary Art section, directed by Gherardo Rusconi, while Ancient and 19th Century Art continued to be managed by Giorgio Rusconi. Over the years, new departments have been added: Design in 2011; Islamic and Oriental Art in 2016; Jewellery, again in 2016; Murano Glass in 2018; and Africa and Oceania and Luxury & Collectibles in 2020. In June 2019, the Turin branch was inaugurated with an anthological exhibition dedicated to the masters of the twentieth century including Enrico Castellani, Alighiero Boetti, Afro Basaldella, Rammelzee, Aldo Mondino, Giorgio De Chirico and Alberto Burri.
